As you may have noticed, I very rarely update my livejournal, and I've basically decided that there's no point in keeping this one around anymore. I am opening up a new journal (

My mom just sent me a list of all the colleges from whom I've received propaganda since coming to Germany... here's the list...

You're pretty into politics and you've got the
vegan (or at least vegetarian) thing going
on...maybe. You're often perceived as nerdy,
but you don't care: you know all these meat
heads will be working for you someday. You're
probably an independent culture loving feminist
and this shows through what you read, watch,
wear, buy, eat, and listen to. You're the new
grrrl for the 21st century, baby!

MOST AMAZING THING EVER!
It's also very gay. And I use gay in an entirely non-derogatory sense here.

So the girls behind me just found this PETA pamphlet that they scattered around campus. They're taking turns reading it outloud, and their reactions are intensely amusing.
That is all.

TSUNAMI BENEFIT CONCERT
5:30 P.M. Saturday, March 5, 2005
Hilbert Circle Theatre, Indianapolis
In the wake of the catastrophic tragedy resulting from the recent TSUNAMI that hit Southeast Asia, I wanted to explore the best way to express my feelings of sympathy and support as a member of the performing arts community of Indianapolis.
I discovered that the sentiment was not mine alone. A special orchestra has been formed for this occasion, composed of those willing to donate their talent, spirit and service, conducted by me, Hidetaro Suzuki. Joining us are Henry Leck and the Indianapolis Children’s Choir, and David Hochoy and Dance Kaleidoscope. Without reservation, all have generously offered to join me in producing a benefit concert at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 5th, 2005, at the Hilbert Circle Theatre.
There will be a modest admission fee of $15 for adults and $10 for children and students. Your additional contribution at the event is encouraged.
We urge you to support this concert by joining us on March 5th and being acknowledged as citizens who second our efforts, all united in expressing our sympathy and offering hope to the people who endured this tragedy.
Sincerely yours,
Hidetaro Suzuki

Yeah, so this is really odd. Especially because Socialism contradicts Anarchism on so many points. But the fact that I scored 100% for all five of the more traditionally liberal ones is just really cool.
Just call me Mr. President. (Alternately, Ellen or Zoe are equally acceptable.)

I got this e-mail from a former literature professor today... I'd be going if I wasn't going to the ARADC this upcoming weekend.
While I know many of us are fatigued and disappointed after the election last fall, now is not the time to resign ourselves to a fate of extremist opinions and laws!
According to Indiana Senator John Waterman (District 39), Indiana is in danger of “the implementation of a large homosexual agenda.”
“Because they can’t reproduce, homosexuals have to recruit! We must continue to fight back in order to preserve our children’s innocence,” Waterman wrote in a newsletter to his constituents last summer.
Out of fear and ignorance, Indiana Republicans are working to implement their own homophobic agenda with little concern for opposition.
That is why Sen. Waterman is one of seven Republican sponsors of Joint Senate Resolution 7, an amendment to the Indiana Constitution that reads:
Definition of marriage. Provides that marriage in Indiana consists only of the union of one man and one woman. Provides that Indiana law may not be construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents of marriage be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups.
This resolution is currently in committee at the statehouse. Unfortunately, the committee is made up of 3 democrats and 7 republicans – of the 7 republicans, 4 are listed as sponsors of this resolution: Mike Long, Mike Young, Richard Bray and John Waterman.
The committee will debate this resolution on Saturday, February 8th at 8 am in the senate chambers of the state house.
THIS RESOLUTION IS EXPECTED TO PASS!!!!!
Other legislative items introduced this term:
Senate Bill 580: Provides that only a married couple that consists of individuals of the opposite sex are eligible to adopt. Sponsor: Jeff Drozda(R).
Senate Bill 585: Prohibits a homosexual from being a foster parent or adopting. Sponsor: John Waterman (R).
House Bill 1841: Provides that state appropriations may not be used for the administration, operation, or programs of the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction. Sponsors: Cindy Noe (R), Woody Burton (R), and Marlen Stutzman (R).
Unless these measures are opposed by large numbers of vocal citizens, we can expect all of the above measures to become law.
Contact your legislator today and voice your opposition to the homophobic agenda.
